Vincent Onakpome – Procurement Manager
Prior to joining Unlocking Potential in 2020, I had previously worked in retail as a buyer before crossing over to JISC as a procurement coordinator which was my introduction to public procurement.
This has given me that double edged sword privilege of tasting operations and capital expeditions in both the private and public sector.
While I was at JISC, I was saddled with procurement operations policies reinvigoration, research, process improvement, suppliers’ communication development and management, as well as bridging the gap between the procurement team and every other colleagues in the business. All these were in addition to my day to day role of procuring goods and services that adds value to the business.
Tell us a little more about your role:
My role in Unlocking Potential is to manage the procurement processes needed for the smooth running of the operation, as well as giving support, training, mentorship and helping SME businesses in Cornwall to take the leap of faith in moving their business operations to the next level in terms of putting themselves out to the public and government for contracts within their capacity and in collaboration with others.
What do you like to do when not at work?
In my spare time I concentrate on reaching out to support young people in the community, as well as undertake various DIY projects around the house; if the kids have not got my time.
