Existing Business Success Story: The CHAOS Group
Babs Rounsevell, Managing Director of The CHAOS Group, a CIC working with underprivileged individuals in Cornwall, was supported by our Future Focus programme to innovate and grow the business.
The CHAOS group launched five years following Babs attending an Unlocking Potential event which inspired her to take that step and make her dream a reality. They now have four companies with seven brands, with their latest venture being ‘CHAOS Online’ an industry standard online radio station, housed within the Café CHAOS in Truro.
After working closely with Future Focus Business Development Management Carolyn Inger, Babs and her team attended Future Focus Labs, events and undertook a Knowledge Exchange within another company.
Babs said: “My background is in health and social care, when we came across Unlocking Potential, we realised we needed to upskill the team – and the journey started there. It’s been a fantastic opportunity for me to speak to some of the most amazing professionals in Cornwall and beyond.”
She added: “All the people I have met through this programme, have been so centred about what is right for my individual business. It is not a standard approach it is bespoke – that is so refreshing!”
Following Babs recently attending our Scaling Up for Success Lab with David Bone, the company are preparing to launch ‘CHAOS Continental’ now focusing on developing support to similar communities in Europe and beyond.
Katy Hutchinson, a Director at The CHAOS Group, remarked on the valuable contribution the Knowledge Transfer made to the group. Enabling them to build a Social Impact Model, she says:
“We were delivering some really good stuff, but we weren’t capturing it very well. We worked with Pentreath to better capture data and statistics. This will now enable us to apply for future grants, funding and commissioning”
