Robyn Hickman – Project Officer
Robyn joined the Unlocking Potential Team in 2020, after graduating from her Integrated Master’s Degree in Zoology from the University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus. After falling in love with the variety of Cornwall’s natural spaces discovered throughout her time as a student, she moved to Camborne with her partner and started working as a Project Officer for the Digital Transformation Project.
Robyn is excited to support Cornwall’s businesses to grow via her role at UP, giving back to the county she is so grateful to have discovered.
What inspires you?
The dedication of my family, friends and colleagues to what they do and what they love. I thrive when surrounded by motivated and like-minded people, which is why I so enjoyed my time at University. It’s also why I’m so looking forward to the chance to maintain an enthusiastic working environment, as part of the UP team!
How do you switch off and relax?
The natural world drives my creative spirit and makes me eager to capture it via music, illustration, photography or the written word. Whenever I can I get out to the nearby woods and beaches to help my mind be still for a few blissful moments – that is, until it gets distracted by an interesting bird!
What is your guilty pleasure?
It’s not inherently something I should feel ‘guilty’ about, but most of my free time is occupied by taking care of my reptiles. Together with my partner, we currently own three snakes and a gargoyle gecko, with another snake and tree frogs being added to the collection soon. A word of warning for anyone who’d like to ask me about them: I can, and will, talk for hours about each animal – so be prepared for that!
