Productivity Boosting Apps
Productivity Boosting Apps
Self-proclaimed ‘geek girl’, Kate Doodson, gives us the run down on the latest apps that she uses to boost her daily productivity, streamline her to-do list and “get back half a day a week”.
Here’s a list of a few of Kate’s tried and tested apps:
Awakee Morning Routine Planner: This App lets you create morning habits to get you into a productive frame of mind before work. ‘If work starts at 8 am the time before is all yours. You decide what to do at that time and turn them into habits‘.
TripIt: Travel Planner and Organiser: Hotel, rail, airline travel plans are all located in one place and are shareable. ‘Quickly make sense of all of your travel plans and create a single itinerary for every trip’.
Microsoft Office Lens: One of Kate’s favourites. This works as an Office 365 App. It will scan any document you show it and convert it into a PDF document, Powerpoint or Word document with clarity. The document can then be shared or saved to Microsoft OneNote.
The reMarkable Tablet: Write your notes digitally on a tablet and then convert into a typed document which can be shared and also saved to OneNote. ReMarkable claim that ‘this is the only digital device that feels like paper. A tool for note-taking, reading and reviewing documents’.
Zoom/Skype/Hangouts: Video and chat tools. Kate commented “Have these on your phone, they are far more efficient on iphone or android devices – don’t bother with laptops. Just make sure you have a decent headphone.”
Microsoft Teams: ‘A hub for teamwork in Office 365. All of your team conversations, files, meetings and apps live together in a single shared workplace. You can take it with you on a mobile device’.
Kate said “Teams cuts your internal email down by 50%. Teams is more succinct than email and is very simple once set up with a lovely interface. The mobile App version is even better than the desktop version.”
GIF Maker by Momento: Creates animated GIFS from your device photos.
Gifs and Video’s work on social media channels to draw interest and create shareable content. ‘Using a smart detection algorithm, Momento automatically creates beautiful moments using your photos on your device’.
Adobe Aero: Create your own augmented reality. One of Kate’s favourite apps, you can ‘Design and share augmented reality experiences using assets you’ve created in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and more. With Adobe Aero, you can blur the lines between the physical and digital worlds — no complex coding required.’
Kate will continue to explore more key productivity tools and techniques at our InFocus one-dayer on the 29th of January 2020 with ‘Plate Spinning Made Easy’.
