Growth Planning sessions helped Penk Architecture diversify their business
Growth Planning sessions helped family business diversify
Family businesses are often bound through historic roots, legacy and a fierce ‘we’re in it together’ ethos. Penk Architecture is just that: ‘a team of family architectural designers who are immersed in an environment of creativity and innovation’.
Being fully absorbed in the creative side of the business, however, had its downside, explains co-owner Josh Penk:
We had never sat back and thought strategically about where we want the business to go. We needed to do it.
Having a plan and thinking long-term about where we want the business to go got us excited! We hadn’t previously thought about any of the areas covered in the Growth Planning sessions, it was a real eye-opener.
WHAT DOES 2021 LOOK LIKE FOR PENK ARCHITECTURE?
The arrival of Covid and the subsequent lockdown during spring 2020 had a big impact initially for Penk Architecture, “Building sites shut down leaving ambiguity on whether we should carry on.” said Josh.
Now things are looking brighter and positive for the remainder of 2020 and into next year.
We are exponentially busy; there has been a big explosion of contracts mainly in smaller, domestic work. We have learnt to remain flexible and we’re continuing to work on developing a new fabrication side of our business.
