Helen Jones – Digital Innovator
After she graduated in Chemistry and Business Studies Helen started a career in Software Development which lasted for 25 years, the majority of which was as a freelancer via her own business.
She worked primarily in the manufacturing sector spending many happy years at a Caterpillar factory in Leicestershire working on bespoke software for their ERP system, but also has experience in Insurance, Payroll and Banking. She also worked for an Adult Education Advocacy Charity gaining valuable experience of working on European projects and the learning at first hand the benefits of a business working with a CRM.
Throughout her career Helen has been most inspired by the reaction of clients when they see how much time they will save by using the software she has designed and created. She recently obtained a coaching qualification and is looking forward to working with Cornish SMEs to help guide them to find ways to improve their businesses using digital innovation.
Helen moved to Newquay in 2015 and when out of the office enjoys spending time in and around the area, going for beautiful walks, spending time in the various hostelries and learning to bodyboard. She also enjoys travelling to the Midlands to visit family, friends and to cheer on her beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers in person.
What is your favourite piece of tech?
The one gadget she can’t do without is her iPhone “because it’s like a huge box of gadgets that I use to run my life – my Pomodoro timer app is a current favourite”.
What is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is “watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race whilst eating a Sainsbury’s custard slice or a family size Toblerone”.
