Gemma Collins – Project Officer
Gemma is originally from Cornwall and studied within the county, she has worked primarily in accounts administration for two local food wholesalers. During her time in each administrative role she gained experience working within busy office environments and varied teams while expanding her knowledge in using both sales and purchase ledgers.
In 2015 Gemma took on a new challenge working within the charity sector as part of the Fundraising Team at Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. This opened up new challenges and brought about new skills such as: working with volunteers, public speaking and donor stewardship.
In 2021 Gemma joined the Unlocking Potential team after seeing the opportunity to join as the Project Officer for the Breakthrough 2 programme, helping Cornish businesses to take their first steps and find new ways to grow.
What inspires you?
Growing up and working in Cornwall is something I am very grateful for; Cornwall is truly a beautiful county steeped in so much history and with many beautiful places to explore.
Being able to help a local company who would like to become established or to grow their business within the county is something I find very inspiring and am proud to be a part of at Unlocking Potential.
How do you switch off and relax?
I am a very keen, novice gardener! I really enjoy the challenges gardening can present and finding ways to solve them. The garden for me is a great space to unwind in after a busy day, and I enjoy sharing it with family and friends.
What is your guilty pleasure?
It has to be homemade cakes!
