Fresh ideas, new thinking and inspirational people combine to enable established businesses to identify opportunities, trends and threats. Perspective is elusive; this innovative programme gives business leaders enough distance to see the business, and its future, in a new light.
Allyson Glover – Programme Director
Allyson is the Programme Director for Unlocking Potential, inclusive of the Future Focus programme. Allyson has a significant track record in business management, team development, change management, & marketing and sales management in the private sector with FTSE 100 Business Services Companies. Allyson now leads the Future Focus team, supporting Cornwall’s established businesses to grow through innovation.
Becks Polson – Future Focus Programme Lead
Becks joined Unlocking Potential in 2011 as Marketing Manager, following a career in magazine publishing, charities and public services. Since then she has led the Marketing, Client Services and Operations teams, as well as creating hundreds of events, conferences and workshops.
Today, Becks heads up the Future Focus programme, developing an impactful package of resources for Cornish businesses looking to prepare for the future and capitalise on new opportunities. This includes the creation of labs and trips, which tap cutting edge thinking and practical tools to help businesses make significant change. Becks works closely with colleague Andy Peters, tapping into his encyclopedic knowledge of businesses in Cornwall and utilise his wealth of skills, experience and insights to shape the programme and make important connections.
Carolyn Inger – Future Focus Senior Business Development Manager
Carolyn has many years’ experience of running her own companies and working as a Director and Manager for large and small businesses and community interest companies. Carolyn works across all sectors and sizes of business in roles covering business support, consultancy and organisational development and assessment.
Holly Barber – Future Focus Business Development Manager
Holly started her marketing career as an Unlocking Potential graduate, before joining the team in 2019 as Business Development Manager. Holly is client-focused and combines her communication and marketing skills to support businesses in Cornwall on the Future Focus programme.
Phillipa Mina – Future Focus Impact and Partnership Development Manager, University of Exeter
Impact and Partnership Development Managers are responsible for supporting business engagement and impact development; research collaboration with industry and government partners; relationships with key partners including corporate partners; and other forms of income generation from businesses and other external partners.
Hollie Kirk – Future Focus Impact and Partnership Development Manager, University of Exeter
As an Impact and Partnership Development Manager, Hollie helps connect businesses and academics in addition to brokering relationships, facilitating discussions and helping to build lasting partnerships. Hollie’s interests are in supporting the emerging fashion and textile businesses in Cornwall, using academic leads to help develop sustainable and circular economy-led practices and support for start-up and larger businesses.
Isabelle Housni – Future Focus Event & Administrative Project Support, University of Exeter
Isabelle is part of the Future Focus 2 Programme working with local Cornish and Isles of Scilly businesses, encouraging them to innovate and supporting them through events, labs, grants and other offerings.
Dr Ruth Cherrington – Research Fellow for Circular Economy and Business Innovation, University of Exeter
Ruth has several years of experience supporting research and development projects in collaboration with industrial and academic partners. She is currently working on the Future Focus project to support businesses based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (C&IoS) helping them to realise their growth potential through innovation.
