Thinking about changing, or upgrading your business’s website?

Does it keep dropping down your ‘to-do’ list as it feels like too much of a challenge or you are not sure how to explain what you need to a developer?

Or know if you even need one?

Our next Marketplace event How to buy a website will demystify some of the expectations and realities of what buying or upgrading a website could need to include.

From approaching the topic ‘problem first’ and writing a brief to better illustrate your needs. To gaining a greater idea of budget expectations, and a broader understanding of the level of expertise required for projects of varied sizes and budgets.

This event will be a chance to hear from some local digital experts and talk to the Digital Transformation team. To gain insight into the approaches the experts often take, in order to meet your needs but also could inspire you to digitally transform more than your website.

Design thinking, user experience & ecommerce

Led by Samuele Armondi from Thought Quarter and Jonathan Davies from LinedUp, they will deliver a presentation on a design thinking approach to web development, focusing on problem solving; understanding the expertise needed to suit different types of projects and an idea of types of budgets to consider.

Jonathan Davies, LinedUp, has over 10 years’ experience creating ecommerce sites for global brands such as Finisterre, Smol and Sofa Workshop. Jonathan will talk in greater detail about ecommerce web options and creating a better user experience when buying online.

How to create a website brief

Speaking from their own experience, a panel discussion will follow with local business Kernow Craft and Unlocking Potential web mentor Tim Macknelly discussing how to approach creating a winning brief, plus things to consider when creating this.

Lightning talks on branding, web content & SEO

Following lunch, a series of Expert Lightening talks on branding, web content and SEO will take place in the auditorium while the ‘Ask the speakers’ sessions give the audience a chance to have more in-depth conversations with the mornings’ speakers about individual projects.

Jessica Bents, owner of PB+J Web Design will be sharing her expertise on great web content and copyrighting. Using examples of good and bad web content as part of her lightening talk, Jessica will demonstrate how much of a difference copy and photos can make to your web presence.

“Having engaging and impactful content and copy on your website is fundamental to engaging the right audience in the right way.” Explains Jessica

“I’ll share my insights into why spending time and (potentially) some investment in great copywriting and photography is your time and money well spent.”

Lightning talk on SEO

During Christian Thomson’s 15-minute lighting talk, he will translate the value of SEO into meaningful numbers. Sharing solutions to ensure the monetary value of a website is retained during an upgrade to a different platform or a total rebrand. Thomson is the CEO of Marwick Marketing, a Premier Google Partner Agency in Cornwall, UK & Vancouver, Canada leading a team of 22 digital marketing professionals.

This event is ERDF funded and takes place at the Fibrehub with lunch included. Virtual tickets are also available.
