Breakthrough Stories: The Ministry of Making
Jonti and Jo gain practical elements for their new business
The Ministry of Making supports the maker community whether that be artists, builders or cooks – quite simply, anything made by hand. The Ministry also provides the opportunity for people to make something they have always wanted to create.
Jonti and Jo from the Ministry of Making, attended an Unlocking Potential Breakthrough Workshop to gain vital experience in the practical elements of running a business.
Jonti said;
We felt we had plenty of experience and education in our particular fields of our craft, but less experience in business. We’re looking to set up a CIC; a lot of the information we’ve been covering at the Breakthrough Workshop at today has helped us focus our minds on what we need to look at and to find new ways of doing things.
During the workshop, Jonti and Jo developed a new business idea for downloadable ‘How-to’ guides, have collaborated with one of the other businesses on the workshop to cross-market services and have rethought what they thought they knew about their target customer.
Reflecting on her experience at the two-dayer, Jo said;
Breakthrough has been a great networking opportunity, there’s a wide variety of businesses in attendance and we’ve already linked up with a couple of the businesses here. It’s been just what we’ve needed.
