Breakthrough Stories: Rebecca Walklett Art
Metalsmith, Rebecca Walklett, attended the two-day Breakthrough Workshop to understand her target audience and gain clarity on her business finances.
Designer and metalsmith, Rebecca Walklett, is based in Constantine, Falmouth. Using a variety of techniques such as raising, press forming, fabrication, etching & patination, Rebecca creates an array of coloured pieces including jewellery, boxes and bowls.
I fell in love with patination whilst at college and have continuously tried new ways of colouring my metal pieces. I also enjoy raising, a way of developing forms from a flat piece of metal by hammering it over various shaped steel stakes. This is the process by which most of my bowls are made. My forms are either very classic so as to not distract from the colours, and textures or are derived from my extended love affair with pebbles and all other sea worn artifacts.
Rebecca came along to the two day Breakthrough Workshop to focus her ideas and to refine her market audience:
This Breakthrough workshop has enabled me to focus on my customer base, identify who they are and how I might be able to find them. The other benefit has been working on my finances and figures; I had an idea about this but Breakthrough has made it so much more clear.
