Breakthrough Stories: LuckTaylor Ceramics
Breakthrough gives you practical tools, such as the Business Model Canvas, to take home and use straight away.
Lucktaylor Ceramics specialise in the creation of hand-built Raku fired ceramics inspired by the wild Cornish landscape, which, founder Catherine, sells through galleries in Cornwall and London. Catherine also runs Raku courses and masterclasses from her large studio near Penzance.
“I moved to Cornwall 9 years ago”, says Catherine, “I had been working in the arts for many years, I wanted to focus on ceramics, and I particularly loved Raku ceramics”
Having started her business firing ceramics in her garden shed, demand for her artwork increased and Catherine was able to move her work out of the shed and into a much larger studio near St Buryan.
Catherine attended the 2-day Breakthrough Workshop at the St Ives Harbour Hotel, after deciding that she needed support to scale-up her business:
I have reached a point, where I feel like I have a lot of business skills but I now want to grow my business. I have come to the Breakthrough Workshop to find out what my next step is
Reflecting on the practical tools that are introduced during the Breakthrough Workshop, Catherine said:
I love the business model canvas that we have looked at – I have found that really useful. I found that I have come away with a lot of tools that I can take a way and work on – it’s been inspiring.
Breakthrough gives you the opportunity to work with a Business Development Manager to focus on different areas of business need:
The business development managers are really fun, they make what could be fairly ‘dry’ subjects interesting and they are really knowledgeable. It’s so good to be able to bounce ideas off someone else. The networking has been great as well. Overall, it’s been a great two days!
The next Breakthrough workshop takes place on the 21st and 22nd of January 2020 at Heartlands. If you are interested in attending, contact us on 0845 600 3660 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
