Breakthrough: I left with two businesses and a big wakeup call
Workshops helped me become braver
Already a seasoned business owner, successfully running dog walking business, Pentire Paws, Cathy Millar set up her new venture, Office Caddy – offering administrative and business support – three months before the pandemic hit. “Not ideal” she reports, but some welcome time at home gave head space to shape her new business, carving it into something she wanted it to be.
Brimming with ideas, she found herself at a crossroads – Cathy’s ears were ringing with “find your niche.” With extra time to spend working on the business, she got on board with the Breakthrough four-part workshop.
The Breakthrough workshop has given me clarity on the way the business should grow. Unexpectedly, it was the finance session of the workshop that helped me realise that I had an opportunity to start yet another business!
Cathy describes this realisation during the Breakthrough finance session as her ‘lightbulb moment.’ She was looking for a passive income whilst she established Office Caddy, and so had an idea to develop and launch premium dog biscuits through an already loyal customer base from Pentire Paws.
Thanks to that realisation on the Breakthrough workshop, I’m now retailing my dog biscuits locally and I’m busy developing a new ecommerce website!
Realisations are often made when you look outside-in and in the company of likeminded thinkers. Through the Breakthrough workshop, Cathy realised that she was undervaluing herself, had self-doubt and that she needed to “be more creative, and become braver.”
Breakthrough helped me with my self-doubt. I knew I was undercharging my services through Office Caddy but I was worried that people would think that I wouldn’t have enough background knowledge or expertise, which deep down, I knew I did. I immediately put my prices up, it was a really big wakeup call!
